Camilla and Georg Jellinek Center for Ethics (JCFE)

With the establishment of the Jellinek Center for Ethics, Heidelberg University has created a thematically open platform for interdisciplinary collaboration on ethical challenges. Researchers, scientists, scholars and teachers from various disciplines come together to work on ethical and normative issues, strengthen reflection on these topics as an integral part of scientific practice and professionalism, and deepen the exchange between science and society.

There are ethical issues in all academic fields and areas of life. The Camilla and Georg Jellinek Center for Ethics established three key thematic work areas and one transversal area focusing on innovative methods (see links). All areas are open to further development and specification through the center's members.

The Camilla and Georg Jellinek Center has been established to analyze and reflect ethical and normative issues in research, teaching, and society. These analyses are primarily conducted from an interdisciplinary vantage point, with a discerning eye toward critical reflection and evaluation. To this end, the Center continuously develops together with its members projects that combine different perspectives and are carried out across the University, beyond project and faculty boundaries.
